Dreams of my childhood

Dreams of my childhood

I found this big yellow bulldozer near Union Station one sunny afternoon.

In Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, there’s a playground with a bulldozer – as in, the bulldozer is part of what you’re supposed to play on.  At that point in my life, I figured driving a bulldozer would be a pretty great career.

When I joined the Honor Committee at UVa, one of the other Committee members, Petronella, was from Zimbabwe.  Upon meeting her at at the Dome Room banquet to kick off our term, I immediately enthused about that playground … and she knew exactly the one I was talking about!
