Chinese children find Duncan hilarious
These two kids spotted me before I got on the bus and laughed uproariously. Once I joined them on the bus, they giggled uncontrollably. Half the bus chattered about how endlessly they were laughing at me. When I took their picture, they laughed at me. When I got off the bus, they laughed at me. Somewhere in Chengdu, they are probably still laughing at me.
I’m told that such a reaction is a cultural thing: Uncomfortable? Don’t know what you’re looking at? Confused? Never seen a tall, bald, white guy? Laugh! The solution to all these things!
I’m stared at everywhere I go here, but so far I’ve only been an inexhaustible comedy-fest for these two children.
